Health Management, B.S.

The Health Management program at Saint Louis University is designed for students interested in the business side of healthcare and public health. The program is offered through the College for Public Health and Social Justice, which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Health Management is a 120-credit program that provides students with a foundation in the business elements of healthcare, including marketing, finance, human resources, organization, and strategic planning. The program prepares students to work in healthcare organizations, industry, and clinical settings.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

• Explain how the structure of the U.S. healthcare system influences the delivery of care to individuals and communities
• Apply the principles of management to the most pressing needs that arise within healthcare organizations
• Understand the role of and relationships between operational components of healthcare delivery organizations, such as finance, technology, compliance, and clinical care
• Describe ways to improve healthcare delivery grounded in ethics and justifiable strategy
• Organize and express information necessary for moving an organization forward in ways specific to the audience

Continuation Standards

To continue in the program, students must:

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00
• Earn a minimum grade of C in all B.S. in Health Management major courses
• Earn a minimum grade of C- in all major pre-requisite courses
• Earn a minimum grade of D in all core courses
• Earn a minimum grade of D in all remaining general elective courses counting toward the minimum 120 credits required for graduation

Tuition

The tuition for the program is $56,960 per year.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Saint Louis University offers scholarships and financial aid to help students finance their education. Students can apply for admission by December 1 and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1 to be considered for priority scholarships.

Accreditation

The College for Public Health and Social Justice is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the program, applicants must:

• Be graduating from an accredited high school or have an acceptable HiSET exam score or take the General Education Development (GED) test
• Submit transcripts from all previously attended colleges
• Meet the admission requirements for transfer students if they have attempted 24 or more semester credits of college credit

International Applicants

International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency and submit all academic records with an English translation. An official course-by-course transcript evaluation may be required and accepted.
