Program Overview
Graduates are equipped to program, troubleshoot, and maintain robots and automated systems in various manufacturing environments, with a projected good labor market condition in Canada. The program features state-of-the-art facilities, including robot and machine vision labs, and prepares students for employment in system integration, machine building, and automotive manufacturing, among others.
Program Outline
The program focuses on developing skills in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electronics, computer-aided design (CAD), mechanical systems, computer and robot programming, sensors, and actuators. Graduates will be equipped to program, troubleshoot, and maintain robots and automated production systems, along with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. They will also be prepared to assist in the application and design of robotic systems, their manufacture, and testing.
Program Highlights:
- ABB robot/machine vision lab with twelve new robots with integrated vision cameras
- ABB/Fanuc material handling lab with six ABB and six new Fanuc robots
- New Fanuc welding robots lab with twelve Fanuc robots and Lincoln welders
- Upgraded PLC lab for teaching both Rockwell and Siemens
Career Opportunities:
The labor market condition for Robotics Technicians in Canada is forecast to be good for some time to come. Graduates will find employment with system integrators, machine builders, automotive manufacturers, or other manufacturing environments.
