Program Overview
The UWA Doctor of Optometry Micro-credentials Bridging Program consists of two micro-credentials: Clinical Optometry and Pharmacology and Immunology for Optometry. Successful completion of both courses allows students with relevant prerequisites to apply for advanced standing in the second year of the Doctor of Optometry program. The program includes pre-recorded lectures, problem-based learning, clinical skills sessions, and seminars. Students can complete the micro-credentials separately or stack them together.

The UWA Doctor of Optometry Micro-credentials Bridging Program consists of two micro-credentials:
- OPTMM410 Clinical Optometry:
- Delivered over 6 weeks
- 150 hours of learning
- 8-10 pre-recorded lectures per week
- Two Problem-Based Learning Sessions per week (2 hours each)
- Four Clinical Skills sessions (2 hours each)
- Additional reading, personal study, and assessment
- OPTMM411 Pharmacology and Immunology for Optometry:
- Delivered over 2 weeks
- 150 hours of learning
- 7 pre-recorded lectures per week
- Two Seminars per week (2 hours each)
- Additional reading, personal study, and assessment

Careers:
- Successful completion of both micro-credential courses allows students to apply for up to 48 credit points of advanced standing and entry into the first trimester of the second year of the Doctor of Optometry program.
Other:
- The program is designed for students who have received an offer of a place into the Doctor of Optometry program and have appropriate pre-requisites.
- Students who have completed a bachelor's degree in Vision Science or equivalent, as recognized by UWA, and have completed the UWA Doctor of Optometry Micro-credentials Bridging Program may apply for credit of prior learning up to a value of 48 points for relevant units in year 1 of the Doctor of Optometry Course.
- The micro-credentials can be completed as a one-off or stacked together.
