Advanced Accounting - Graduate Certificate

Overview

The Advanced Accounting graduate certificate presents material relevant to advanced practice of accounting and includes knowledge tested on the CPA exam. The completed certificate may be applied to satisfy a portion of the course requirements for the Master of Science in Accounting degree.

Admissions

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum 3.000 GPA in accounting classes and 2.700 overall GPA on a 4.000-point scale
• Official transcript(s)
• English language proficiency - all international students must provide proof of English language proficiency (unless they meet specific exceptions to waive) by earning one of the following:
  • Minimum 71 TOEFL iBT score
  • Minimum 6.0 IELTS score
  • Minimum 50 PTE score
  • Minimum 100 DET score

Coursework

• Certificate Requirements:
  • ACCT 53020: ADVANCED FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING 1 (3 credits)
  • ACCT 53033: INCOME TAXATION II - ENTITY TAXATION 1 (3 credits)
  • ACCT 63022: PROFESSIONAL ISSUES AND ETHICS IN ACCOUNTING (3 credits)
  • ACCT 63031: ADVANCED AUDITING THEORY AND PRACTICE (3 credits)
  • Minimum Total Credit Hours: 12

Graduation Requirements

• Minimum Certificate GPA: 3.000
• Minimum Overall GPA: 3.000

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

1. Analyze, evaluate and report on complex accounting and economic transactions using the accounting framework.
2. Given an ethical dilemma in an accounting setting, analyze the issue, apply an ethical framework and develop a resolution.
3. Effectively communicate using oral and written communication skills in a business setting.
