Overview
The International Postgraduate Certificate of Education (iPGCE) programme is designed to support educators who are currently in practice outside the UK. This level 7 (Masters Level) course develops practical teaching skills, while deepening your critical awareness of education in rapidly changing global contexts.

Course Description
The iPGCE gives a grounding in contemporary pedagogy, while providing challenge and deeper critical perspectives for established professionals. Wherever you are in your career, the iPGCE can support your professional development and help you to move forward. If you continue onto a Masters programme, such as our online MA Education, credits gained on the iPGCE will count towards that further qualification.
What You Will Study
To complete the International Postgraduate Certificate of Education (iPGCE) you will need to complete a total of 60 credits by studying three 20 credit modules.

Module Details
International Inclusive Education
This module focuses on critical debate and discussion exploring inclusion from a range of perspectives including nationally situated attitudes, policy and practice. Ensuring all learners achieve good outcomes is complex; a complexity that is often shaped by many factors both within and without the child.
- Module learning outcome:
- Critically evaluate the current policy and practice of inclusive education in their country, informed by academic research and professional practice
- Interpret and explain educational training and interventions which support inclusive practice in the classroom, through advanced scholarship
- Module content:
- Children with an exceptionality in a specific setting
- Research of exceptionality from a variety of perspectives and appraisal of provision in educational settings
- Labelling, terminology and the implications and impact of ‘labels’
- Critical exploration of inclusive practice in action
- Appraising and designing effective intervention programmes
How You Will Learn
- Pace of study: We recommend about 20 hours of study per week to complete one 20-credit module over a 10-week trimester.
- Assessment method: This course is assessed through 100% coursework with a range of methods such as practical reports, reflective essays and presentations.
- Student support and guidance: Whilst we encourage our students to become independent, life-long learners, we also recognise that offering the right support and guidance will help you to achieve your goals.

The iPGCE is a highly respected qualification that boosts the professional status, and transforms the practice of teachers all over the world. Equivalent to the academic content of a UK PGCE, it is applicable across the global diversity of education sectors.
Entry Requirements
- An undergraduate degree (at least a 2:2) with Honours or equivalent. A third-class degree may be accepted if you can evidence significant professional experience as an educator
- You must be currently employed, whether in a paid or voluntary capacity, in an educational setting
- You must be regularly planning for, teaching and assessing children or young people (3-18 years of age)
English Language Qualifications
If English is not your first language, or you have not successfully completed your highest level of qualification in English, you will need an English language qualification. For this course you will need at least one of the following:
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 6.5 (a minimum score of 6 in one area may be acceptable)
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 580 (paper based) 237 (computer based) or 92 (internet based)
- Pearson Test of Academic English: 51
- Cambridge Advanced Certificate: pass
- London Tests of English: we accept level 5 for postgraduate courses
- International GCE O-level English Language: grade C
- International GCSE English/English as a Second Language: grade C
