Early Childhood Studies (Top-Up) BA (Hons)
Overview
This online top-up degree is designed for individuals who already work in an early childhood setting and hold a Level 5 qualification. The course allows students to top-up to a full BA (Hons) degree with one or two years of online study, deepening their knowledge of early childhood studies to meet the demands of integrated care and education for children from birth.

Course Description
This course supports students' development of early years study, synthesizing theory and practice in an applied and critical manner. The course is structured into five key modules, including:

- Contesting Childhood
- Leadership in Early Childhood Education and Care

Module Details
Child Protection
This module extends students' existing theoretical and practice-based knowledge and understanding of the role of Early Years' practitioners in protecting children from abuse and supporting children at risk. The module examines the current legislative and procedural framework for child protection and the responsibilities of the multi-disciplinary team within it.

Entry Requirements

Exemptions
Exemptions can be made on the basis of prior academic study, professional qualifications, or professional experience. Students who have already studied at another institution, completed a training course, or have work experience that appears equivalent to one or more modules of this program may be able to translate this prior learning into credits towards course modules.
