Program Overview
This NZIHT course will teach you how to value changes to construction and civil engineering contracts as they progress. The course will cover the provisions in NZS3910, the roles of the engineer and contractor, and how to apply the principles in NZS3910 to value a variation. Participants will also learn how to prepare a proposed value of a variation, analyze the issues that lead to a variation, and apply the provisions of NZS3910 in valuing variations.
Program Outline
Students can complete the program in as little as three semesters. The program offers specializations in Sports and Entertainment Journalism or Community and Investigative Journalism. The curriculum focuses on building a solid foundation of reporting skills and creating a portfolio of work across digital, broadcast, and print media. Students gain practical experience through on-campus media outlets, including The Hofstra Chronicle, WRHU Radio, and The Long Island Advocate.

The program prepares students for careers in journalism, media, and communications. Students have access to internships at top media companies in the country, with guidance from faculty advisors and Career Center counselors. The program is housed in the NewsHub, a state-of-the-art newsroom and collaborative space. Hofstra also has one of the largest non-commercial broadcast studios in the northeastern United States. Students gain experience at WRHU-88.7, a 24/7 fully digital radio station.

Entry Requirements:
- To be considered for the MA in Journalism program, you must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.
- Transcripts: Submit unofficial copies of your transcripts for your application review, but official transcripts will be required once you are accepted into the program.
- Résumé: Include your professional experience.
- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required.
- Essay: 500-750-word essay that describes your personal and educational history, past employment, volunteer work or related experience in the applicant's intended field of study, plans for graduate study and plans for a professional career.
- Personal Interview: May be requested and can be conducted on campus, over the phone or via Skype.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
This program requires a level of English proficiency equivalent to a 95 TOEFL.
