Program Overview
This Level 7 Graduate Diploma in Operations and Production Management equips students with the theory and practical skills to manage operations in production manufacturing, service industries, or transport and logistics. Through core courses in project management, operations management, and resource integration, students develop a solid foundation in the field. Electives in human resources, finance, industrial relations, or management accounting allow for specialization.

You will learn project management, product development, operations management, resource integration management and complete an industry project. - Course Descriptions:
- BAM6.016 Project Management: Students will learn the basic principles and terminology of the profession of project management, and apply this to create project plans. Students will also be given a brief introduction to using project management software tools such as MS Project®.
- BAM6.017 Operations Management: Students will gain an understanding of the concepts and analytical methods that contribute to the systematic direction and control of the processes that transform inputs into completed goods and services. Operations management focuses on the management of people and resources through systematic management and feedback. Students will gain introductory knowledge and experience of an operation’s contribution to the macro-management environment.
- BAM7.008 Resource Integration Management: Students will develop skills, knowledge and expertise in the related disciplines of supply chain management, business facility layout/modification, and engineering economics, to ensure resource integration occurs at various levels for business operation, technical management, project management and production of goods or service.
- BAM7.019 Professional Practice A: To develop research capabilities related to chosen area of specialisation, and enable students to complete a “hands-on” immersion in industry practice as part of BAM7.020.
- BAM7.025 Professional Project B: To develop capabilities related to chosen area of specialisation, in a “hands-on” immersion in industry practice. To enable students to apply their learning, test the relevance of academic theories to the workplace and to reflect critically on this relationship between their academic study and industry practice. To enable students to carry out a significant work assignment for the host organisation on a topic in a field allied to their major and present a project report in conjunction with an academic supervisor. The project forms the final component of the programme and requires students to produce work of the highest quality as evidence of their development.
- BAM7.026 Professional Work Placement: To enable students to apply their learning, test the relevance of academic theories to the workplace and to reflect critically on this relationship between their academic study and industry practice.
- BAM6.004 Intermediate Management Accounting: Students will be able to collect, interpret, present and use relevant management accounting information for an organisation to effectively plan, control and make appropriate decisions regarding business operations.
- BAM6.006 Introduction to Finance: Students will apply financial management knowledge and skills to a small or medium size business for decision-making purposes.
- BAM6.013 Industrial Relations: The aim of this course is to provide knowledge of current Industrial Relations legislation, processes and practices, and understand the relationship of the parties involved.
- BAM6.014 Human Resources: Students will gain the knowledge to understand the roles, functions and application of human resource management within contemporary New Zealand organisations.
