Program Overview


This program provides standalone CPD courses in optometry, covering topics from glaucoma treatment to genetics of the eye. Led by experts from the University and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, these courses enhance knowledge and skills for optometrists seeking professional development or career advancement in the field. Upon completing one or more units, participants can progress to MSc programs or apply their enhanced skills in their current roles.

Program Outline


Degree Overview:

Study one or more units from our MSc degree as standalone courses for continuing professional development. Improve your understanding and knowledge of treatment of glaucoma, low vision or medical retina (accredited by the College of Optometrists). You can also choose to learn more about contact lenses, refractive management or genetics of the eye. Go on to complete our MSc in Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences or Advanced Clinical Optometric Practice if you wish. Open up a new career in optometry or develop your skills within your current role upon completion of one or more of our CPD units.


Tuition Fees:

  • UK students (per annum): £1400 per 15Cr Module
  • International, including EU, students (per annum): £3600 per 15Cr Module
  • Self-funded international applicants for this course will be required to pay a deposit of £1000 towards their tuition fees before a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is issued. This deposit will only be refunded if immigration permission is refused
