Program Overview


PGCE Secondary French

Overview

The PGCE Secondary French program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become outstanding secondary school French teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The program offers extensive periods of classroom experience supported by outstanding tutors and mentors.


Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 2:2 honours degree. If you are not a native or bilingual French speaker, approximately 50% or more of your degree content should have focused on French.
  • A strong academic record at A-level (or equivalent), including French, German or Spanish.
  • Intermediate level in a second language (German, Spanish, Italian or Arabic). Your ability will be tested at the interview stage. For applicants without a second language, a Subject Knowledge Enhancement course will be offered, available at various institutions, and will be part of the offer conditions.
  • Minimum grade C or 4 at GCSE (or equivalent) in English language and mathematics.

Fees

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2025, the tuition fees are as follows:


  • PGCE (full-time)
    • UK students (per annum, subject to Parliamentary approval): £9,535
    • International, including EU, students (per annum): £23,500
