Program Overview
UGCert Egyptology
Overview
The Undergraduate Certificate (UGCert) in Egyptology is a three-year online program that provides students with a general knowledge of the history and civilization of ancient Egypt from circa 3100 BCE to the Arab Conquest.
Entry Requirements
- Full entry requirements are available on the University's website.
- Applications for this course close on 12th September, 2025.
- Only applications with the required information included in the personal statement will be considered.
Application and Selection
- To apply, select Academic Year 2025/6 and include the required questions in the personal statement section (no more than 200 words for each answer).
- The required questions are:
- Why does Egyptology interest you?
- How do you decide what to believe when encountering new information about Ancient Egypt?
Course Details
- The program is led by internationally recognized scholars Dr. Nicky Nielsen and Dr. Katherine Slinger.
- All course content is delivered online, allowing students to study from anywhere in the world.

Fees
- Tuition fees for home students commencing their studies in September 2025 will be £2,600 per annum.
- Tuition fees for international students will be £2,900 per annum.

Additional Expenses
- There are no compulsory books to buy.
- All compulsory texts will be made available to students as part of the course at no extra cost.
- A suggested reading list will be made available to students when they start the course.
Policy on Additional Costs
- All students should normally be able to complete their program of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that program.
- Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totaling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum will be made clear to students at the point of application.
