Program Outline
Degree Overview:
This two-year accelerated degree is the first in the country. It equips students with the skills to rise to the challenge of the rising demand for medical imaging and the rapid development of imaging technology. The program combines the study of the human body, medical imaging science, techniques, and technology with the patient care skills needed to deliver high-quality compassionate care. Students will be trained to use cutting-edge technology to produce and process images of internal body structures and provide real-time imaging to guide lifesaving surgery. They will also gain practical experience through clinical placements, training alongside and supported by healthcare professionals and specialists as valued members of their team. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Assessment:
Assessment methods and criteria depend on the specific modules chosen. Students may be assessed through a combination of examinations, coursework, presentations, and group projects.
Teaching:
The program is taught by world-leading academics specializing in areas such as cancer imaging, cardiovascular, haemostasis, diabetes, metabolism, respiratory, and wound healing. Researchers in the Biomedical Institute for Multimorbidity carry out work to understand the complex interplay between diseases.
Careers:
Graduates of the program are eligible to work in health services like the NHS, as well as in the Armed Forces and private providers. Their experience will open doors to specialist, advanced practitioner, and consultant radiographer roles as well. Outside of health services, there are opportunities in sectors like industrial, veterinary, and forensic radiography.

As accelerated degree students study throughout the year, the maximum amount of Maintenance Loan you can apply for is higher than that available to students studying a standard three-year degree.
