Russian and Contemporary Chinese Studies BA

Overview

Russia and China are both dynamic, rapidly developing nations with extensive influence in global politics. This degree allows you to develop knowledge of these complex and contrasting cultures, developing valuable linguistic expertise and gaining unique international experience.


Course Structure

  • Year One: Develop your language skills in Russian and Mandarin Chinese, and explore the cultures and histories of Russia and China.
  • Year Two: Continue to improve your language skills, and take modules on Russian and Chinese history, culture, and society.
  • Year Three: Spend a year abroad in Russia or China, immersing yourself in the language and culture.
  • Year Four: Return to the UK and take advanced modules on Russian and Chinese language, culture, and society.

Entry Requirements

  • A Levels: ABB, including B in Russian or Mandarin Chinese
  • IB: 30 points overall, with 5 in Higher Level Russian or Mandarin Chinese
  • GCSE: English grade 4 (C)
  • Other qualifications: We accept a range of alternative qualifications, including Access to HE Diploma, BTEC, and Foundation Year
