Architecture (Science) PhD

Overview

This PhD addresses the core of architecture including design as research, and research that supports and stimulates design. Research is undertaken collaboratively on a multinational basis with industry, engineers and other research groups.

Entry Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Home/UK students: 2:1 (or international equivalent) and/or a masters at merit level or above in a relevant subject
    • EU/International students: 2:1 (or international equivalent) and/or a masters at merit level or above in a relevant subject

Meeting English Language Requirements

  • Presessional courses teach you academic skills in addition to English language.

  • Student route visas can be issued for eligible students studying full-time courses.
  • The University of Nottingham does not sponsor a student visa for students studying part-time courses.

  • Department of Architecture and Built Environment:
    • You’ll study in the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment, a collection of beautiful buildings like Lenton Firs (pictured) set in a scenic park.
    • The buildings are clustered around the quadrangle with a café and space for outdoor activities at the heart.
    • The course has dedicated studio space for all students with the Centre for 3D design nearby, providing a wide range of equipment and support for model-making and built projects.
