Advanced Data Analytics Master's

Program Overview

The Master of Science in Advanced Data Analytics is a 30-hour program that provides students with the breadth and depth of experiences to succeed in a data-driven business world. Combining big data analytics, machine learning, cloud computing, and data visualization with real business case studies, this degree helps students advance in their current job or launch a new career in an expanding job market.

Program Highlights

  • All core courses are offered in accelerated 8-week sessions during the fall, spring, and summer.
  • The accelerated online option provides five start times per year: fall semester (August and October), spring semester (January and March), and summer term (June).
  • Students can complete their degree in as few as 12 months by choosing the accelerated online course format.
  • Students can also choose to take a concentration consisting of 18 hours of core coursework with 12 hours of coursework in their concentration area.
  • Available concentrations include Digital Retailing, Health Data Analytics, Management, and Statistics.

This degree provides students with a sophisticated understanding of how to use data and quantitative techniques to help their organization improve its processes.


Sample Courses

  • Data Analytics I (3 hrs) Provides an overview of quantitative methods essential for analyzing data, with an emphasis on business and industry applications.
  • Data Mining (3 hrs) Provides an introduction to collecting, storing, managing, retrieving, and processing datasets.
  • Large Data Visualization (3 hrs) Presents strategies and methods for effective visualization and communication of large data sets.
  • Big Data Analytics (3 hrs) Current issues in storage, retrieval, and analysis of large volumes of data (Big Data), in order to support business decisions.
  • Analytics Capstone (3 hrs) This unique learn-by-doing course is offered in lieu of a project, portfolio, or thesis for candidates for the M.S. in Advanced Data Analytics. Requires a significant project about which students periodically report, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of their findings and its relevance to their interests and/or career goals.
  • Introduction to Data Analytics (3 hrs) Introduction to fundamental concepts of data science with a focus on applications of data science methods.
