About Program

Program Overview

Designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of statistics, it provides a practical approach using SPSS software and encourages data analysis for enhanced data interpretation skills.

Program Outline

Outline:

  • The course covers a range of popular statistical techniques.
  • It can be a refresher for those who have learned Statistics some time ago or intermediate course for those who need to learn statistical techniques in a way that goes beyond the basics.
  • The topics covered in this course are hypothesis testing (as a refresher), regression (as a refresher), measures of association between variables (e.g.
  • phi, gamma, Cramer’s V, correlation), two and multi-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) including interactions, power calculations for sample size determination.
  • These topics will be demonstrated using SPSS.

Other:

  • Prior knowledge of fundamental aspects of Statistics such as mean, standard deviation and confidence intervals is essential along with previous exposure to hypothesis testing and regression (although these latter two topics will be reviewed in the refresher part of the course).
  • This course is aimed at those who wish to improve their competence and confidence in analysing data from surveys and experiments.
