Degree Overview:

This course prepares you to start your career as a new teacher and be successful. You’ll learn to teach in schools in East or West Sussex, Brighton & Hove, Surrey, Hampshire or Kent. The program aims to develop your skills as a reflective practitioner. School-led teacher education is run by experienced mentors and professional tutors. You’ll be supported by University tutors throughout the year. The program boasts an excellent record of graduate employment, surpassing national benchmarks.

On graduation, you’ll have the skills and expertise to successfully start as a new teacher. The program offers a support package to newly qualified teachers during their first year of teaching. Successful candidates can transfer up to 90 Masters-level credits onto the MA in Education.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Degree requirements: Normally, a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above is required.
  • Subject-specific requirements:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Art and Design history and contemporary practice.
  • Sound awareness of how the subject is currently taught within Secondary state schools.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal practice.
  • An undergraduate degree in Art or Design or a related subject from an approved Higher Education institution or validating body.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C (or equivalent).
  • Evidence must be provided at interview.

International Requirements:

  • Degree requirements: The specific requirements vary by country.
  • For example, a Licenciado/Titulo with a minimum final mark of at least 6.0-7.0 is required for Argentina, while a Bachelors degree with a minimum CGPA 2.5/4.0 (Grade C+) is required for Bahrain.
