The B.B.A. in Finance, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) University Affiliated Program, prepares students to become financial managers and investment professionals. Our students obtain industry-relevant knowledge and skills from nationally recognized faculty and interact with industry executives.

The Trading Room in the Business Leadership Building offers all Ryan College of Business students a state-of-the-art research facility equipped with 12 terminals running Bloomberg Professional software, giving students access to real-time market data, news and analysis, as well as the opportunity to earn Bloomberg Certification through the self-paced course available through the terminals.
Students have the opportunity to manage a student managed investment fund of over $750,000.

Finance Degree Courses
Financial Markets and Institutions (3 hrs)
Studies in the operations, mechanics and structure of the U.S. financial system. Topics include commercial banking, non-bank financial institutions, money and capital markets, the impact of monetary policy on financial institutions and markets, and an introduction to the international financial system.
International Finance (3 hrs)
International and regional financial institutions and arrangements; balance of payments, theory, adjustments and impact on world trade; role of commercial and central banks in financing international flow; financing exports and imports; the instruments and markets of foreign exchange; determination of exchange rates.
Valuation and Financial Decisions (3 hrs)
Applies the concepts of risk, return and diversification to standard capital budgeting problems. Students are introduced to basic option valuation and to the use of options and futures contracts for hedging purposes. There is a discussion of the implications of market efficiency and agency problems on corporate decisions. Finally, corporate capital structure decisions are examined.
Financial Statement Analysis and Liquidity Management (3 hrs)
Analysis and interpretation of financial statements. Analyzing issues related to corporate liquidity. Problems and solutions related to the management of short term assets and liabilities. Effective financial statement evaluation from the perspective of managers, investors and creditors. Proforma statement development for effective financial management.
Introduction to Derivatives (3 hrs)
Introduction to the theory, valuation and analysis of derivatives. Fundamental concepts of options, forwards, futures, swaps and other derivative products.
Investments (3 hrs)
First course for the individual investor. Idea of investment value; necessary prerequisites for an investment program; policies; economic and industry factors; introduction to security analysis and valuation; operation of security markets; security laws.
