The Master of Science with a concentration in Learning and Development provides students an opportunity to advance their knowledge and understanding of human development from infancy through adulthood, while also gaining foundational knowledge in Educational Psychology.

Program Requirements

• Foundations of Educational Research Methodology (3 hrs): Overview of the process of conducting research, from formulating research questions to sampling, data collection, analysis and drawing inferences.
• Infant and Child Development (3 hrs): Findings and implications of current theory and research in emotional, social, cognitive, language, physical and perceptual development from birth through infancy and middle childhood.
• Advanced Adolescent Development (3 hrs): Focus on early and late adolescent development based on physiological, socioemotional, and cognitive changes.
• Developmental Change Across Adulthood (3 hrs): Theories and research regarding developmental growth and change from emerging adulthood through old age.
• Learning Theories (3 hrs): Examination of theories of learning and their applications to teaching and learning contexts.
• Introduction to Educational Psychology (3 hrs): Review of theories and applications of educational psychology; basic concepts in learning, cognition, development and their applications to teaching and learning context.
