Program Overview


Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program

The Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program at Xavier University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in occupational therapy.


Admission Criteria

To be considered for admission to the OTD Program, students must meet the following criteria:


  • Be in the upper tier as indicated by high school cumulative GPA and ACT or SAT scores
    • Earn a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 or higher
    • Obtain a minimum SAT score of 1310 or ACT score of 28
  • Meet OTD Admission criteria upon application to the OTD Program

Direct Admit Pathway

The Direct Admit Pathway is available to exceptional incoming Xavier University freshman students or Xavier University rising sophomores who successfully complete 2 full-time freshman semesters of coursework.


Direct Admit Pathway Criteria for Incoming Freshman

To be considered for the Direct Admit Pathway as an incoming freshman, students must:


  • Submit Xavier University application by February 1
  • Select ‘Pre-Occupational Therapy’ as their pre-professional track on the Xavier University admission application or Common App
  • Students who apply will know of their Direct Admit Pathway acceptance by March 1
  • Deposit at Xavier University by the May 1 deadline
  • Earn a cumulative high school GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • Obtain a minimum SAT score of 1310 or ACT score of 28

Direct Admit Pathway Criteria for Rising Sophomores

To be considered for the Direct Admit Pathway as a rising sophomore, students must:


  • Complete 2 full-time semesters at Xavier University
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Complete a minimum of two prerequisite OTD course requirements each with a grade of B or higher
  • Meet OTD Admission criteria upon application to the OTD Program

Accreditation

Xavier’s OTD Program is Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).


Program Details

Acceptance to the OTD Program and admission assured for students who meet all OTD admission criteria given they matriculate into the OTD Program the Fall immediately following completion of a minimum undergraduate degree from Xavier University. Direct Admit Pathway students must apply to the OTD Program via OTCAS. OTCAS application fee for Xavier University application will be deducted from your Bursar bill after successful completion of first OTD semester.
