Program Overview


Career and Technical Education for Practicing Teachers

Overview

This clinically rich CTE certificate program includes six required courses to offer key knowledge, skills and dispositions for teaching technical skills. Working with a school-based mentor teacher while undertaking program coursework, CTE candidates will learn about planning, teaching and assessment strategies; adolescent development and learning processes; the nature of students with disabilities and/or special health care needs; pedagogical uses of technology; literacy development; and the relationship between schools and their communities.


Outcomes

Candidates who complete this program and pass the New York State Teacher Certification Exam, Educating All Students (EAS), can apply for initial CTE certification for grades 7-12.

All academic programs offered by SUNY Oswego that lead to a state license or certification in a particular profession have been designed to meet state licensing requirements in the state of New York.
