Sport Management, BS
The Sport Management, BS program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of the sport and leisure industries, including ocean-based sport, collegiate athletics, and minor league sports. The curriculum covers sport governance, marketing, finance, and administration, preparing graduates for employment in private, nonprofit, and public sport settings.
Program Details
This degree can be used as a stepping stone to advanced degrees in sport management, tourism management, and leisure studies. The curriculum was developed in accordance with the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), and the program plans to become the first COSMA-accredited program among Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).

What Will I Learn
With this degree, students will gain a broad background in sport management, demonstrating an understanding of the principles and practices common to the functional areas of sport management, including leadership and management strategies. Students will also learn to communicate in a professional manner and utilize technology in sport business practice.
What Classes Will I Take
The sport management degree requires a minimum of 120 credits, including:
- 42 credits: Core Curriculum Program
- 2 credits: First-Year Seminars (when applicable)
- 36 credits: Sport Management Major Requirements
- 24 credits: Sport Management Special Emphasis
- 18 credits: Sport Management Directive Electives
