Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN
The MSN Family Nurse Practitioner degree prepares RNs to be Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN). After completing the degree, nurses are eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Program Details
- The degree sequence is designed to be part-time to allow students to work full-time.
- The FNP Degree is offered completely online and only admits new students in the Fall semester.

Application Deadlines
- The MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program uses a rolling admission process during the admissions cycle.
- However, students are encouraged to apply early to allow for enough time to also apply for and qualify for federal student aid and scholarships.
- The college reserves the right to defer admission in the case of low enrollment.
- Students will be notified and given options if a selected program is not offered.
Application Requirements
Complete Application For Admission
- Apply for Admission via the application portal
- An applicant may defer admission to an earlier/later semester; applications are valid for one year, and one deferral is allowed per application
- Once the application is submitted, a Student ID (A#) will be received from the university, which is needed throughout the application process
Application Fee
- $50 for US citizens, $70 for International Students
- Pay during the application process or pay the fee on campus to the Business Office
Additional Requirements
- Submit a Resume: present information starting with the most recent activities and ending with earlier experiences
- Submit a copy of a valid unencumbered Texas Nursing License or Compact RN License
- Submit transcripts: official transcripts documenting all undergraduate and graduate coursework taken at any accredited college or university attended
Special Program Requirements
- Upon admission to the College, complete a criminal background check
- Complete a five-panel non-chain of custody urine drug screen
- Purchase professional liability coverage through the University
- Meet Texas Department of State Health Services immunization requirements for students involved with direct patient contact, including:
- Measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine
- Tetanus-diphtheria toxoid (Td)
- Polio vaccine (not required but recommended)
- Hepatitis B vaccine
- Varicella vaccine
- Provide results of tuberculosis screening annually
- Hold a Current American Heart Association CPR Type C certification
Additional International Applicant Requirements
- Copy of current Visa (if applicable)
- English Language Proficiency:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum paper-based score of 550 or internet-based score of 79-80
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.5
- TOEFL/IELTS will be waived if a valid Texas Nursing License is submitted
