Program Overview


The American Sign Language Minor at Western Oregon University immerses students in the language, culture, and history of the Deaf community. Through coursework in linguistics, cultural sensitivity, and advanced ASL skills, graduates gain a strong foundation for careers in education, social services, government, graduate studies, and lifelong learning. Core courses include ASL VII, VIII, and IX, plus six additional upper division credits, totaling 18 credits.
