The BS in Exercise Science to Doctor of Physical Therapy (3+3) program is designed for high school graduates interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy. This program provides an accelerated degree path that shortens the time to graduation by one full year while still delivering a high-quality educational experience.

Curriculum

  • Students complete three years of coursework in the exercise science program, encompassing foundational knowledge in science, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and exercise prescription.

  • Once entered into the professional phase, students will complete three years (10 semesters) of physical therapy education and clinical coursework.
  • Students not meeting the requirements will be eligible to complete a four-year BS degree in Exercise Science.
  • Jefferson exercise science students will learn hands-on clinical skills during their internship course in their third year.
  • Common sites for internships include fitness centers, strength and condition facilities, and hospital-based settings.
  • Jefferson physical therapy students learn clinical skills during several part and full-time clinical experiences in various physical therapy settings.
