The program is a collaboration between the Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Integrative Biology in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. The curriculum covers areas such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, and more. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in research, clinical care, healthcare, and other related fields.

UAB is home to the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Alabama. This program is delivered on-campus, with most of the content delivered via in-person meetings.
