Program Overview

Engineering Design Program

The Engineering Design program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a comprehensive undergraduate degree that prepares students for a career in engineering design.

Program Overview

In the world of engineering design, students may be responsible for creating innovative products, such as the next new camera phone or self-driving car. The possibilities are endless, and at UAB, students can tailor their major to help them succeed in almost any aspect of engineering design.

Program Structure

The program includes a 15-hour engineering design and innovation core as the backbone to the education. It is a three-course progression in engineering design, as well as a two-semester capstone project. Additionally, students will learn fundamental math, science, physics, and engineering skills necessary to embark on their career. Students will also choose an engineering focus for their minor and have the option to choose a second minor in another engineering concentration or any one of the approved minors.

Delivery Methods

The program delivers most of its content via on-campus, in-person meetings.
