The Health Administration program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is designed to equip students with the skills necessary for leadership positions in healthcare organizations. The program is offered in two formats: executive and residential.

Program Overview

The program aims to teach students the skills required for leadership positions at hospitals, health systems, physician group practices, long-term care facilities, consulting firms, and insurance companies. The executive format is designed for seasoned health professionals, while the residential format is geared towards those looking to transition into health administration.

Concentrations

The program offers two concentrations:

• Health Administration - Executive
• Health Administration - Residential

Delivery Method

The residential format delivers most of its content via on-campus, in-person meetings. The executive format delivers most of its content online, with one on-campus meeting each semester.

Coursework

The program includes courses in:

• Health policy
• Strategic planning
• Health law
• Organization theory
• Economics
• Marketing The executive track offers a capstone experience, while the residential requires an administrative residency, internship, and capstone course.
