Degree Overview:
The Bachelor of Science (Astronomical and Space Sciences) major at UniSQ provides students with a comprehensive understanding of modern astronomy and physics. The program aims to develop professional knowledge and skills in stellar astrophysics, planetary science, solar physics, space science, and physics. Students will gain research project experience and graduate with widely useful scientific, numerical, and critical analysis skills.

The program consists of 24 units, including:
- 1 x 12-unit Astronomical and Space Science major
Teaching:
The program is delivered through a combination of online classes, remote access to UniSQ facilities, and residential schools. Students will have the opportunity to attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students during residential schools.
Careers:
Graduates may find career opportunities as scientists working for industry or government, technicians working in a laboratory or in the field, teachers (in combination with appropriate education studies), meteorologists (subject to appropriate government training), researchers or academics (subject to appropriate postgraduate qualifications), or self-employment providing scientific and/or technical services.
Other:
- The program is only offered via External study but requires students to come to the UniSQ Toowoomba campus for residential school courses.
- Due to the highly recommended on-campus residential school classes, this major is unsuitable for international students studying overseas.
