Program Overview


Construction Management, BSc Hons (Degree Apprenticeship)

This Degree Apprenticeship in Construction Management helps to develop trainees into highly skilled construction site managers with initiative and problem-solving skills.


Overview

  • Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • Enables you to be a paid employee while completing your studies
  • Leads to a chartered member of the CIOB upon completion
  • Level 6 and mapped to the construction site management degree apprenticeship standard

Entry Requirements

UK citizens and permanent residents

  • Completion of the Level 4 Construction Technician Standard; Technician status or the equivalent with the industry’s recognised professional bodies
  • HND/HNC in Construction or equivalent qualifications and commensurate industry experience
  • Transferable skills and readiness to study at undergraduate level
  • GCSE English and mathematics at grade 4/C or above
  • Must be employed in an appropriate apprenticeship role to be eligible for this course

Teaching and Learning

  • Combination of timetabled learning and independent study
  • Seminars and workshops enable discussion and development of understanding
  • Timetabled learning may fall between 9am and 9pm
  • Apprentices also take part in shared/collaborative modules with students on our built environment course

Class Sizes

  • Lectures are usually attended by larger groups and seminars/tutorials by smaller groups
  • Workshop and lab sessions enable work in smaller groups of learners

Independent Learning

  • Expected to dedicate time to study outside of timetabled sessions
  • Facilities designed to support study, including libraries and online resources

Overall Workload

  • Similar to a full-time job for full-time students
  • Reduced in proportion with the number of courses for part-time students

Assessment

  • Formal assessments count towards grade
  • 'Practice' assignments help monitor progress and do not count towards final grade

Feedback

  • Aim to give feedback on assignments within 15 working days
