Program Overview
The University of Strathclyde offers a BA Joint Honours degree in Human Resource Management and Psychology. This program combines the study of human behavior and psychology with the principles of human resource management, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of human behavior in organizational settings.
Program Structure
The program is structured over four years, with the first year providing a foundation in business and psychology. Students take a range of business disciplines across four subject modules, plus three core integrating modules in international business, business knowledge and skills, and academic skills. From the second year onwards, students take modules in the subjects in which they choose to specialize.
Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management component of the program covers areas such as recruitment and selection, training and developing, and managing conflict at work. Students learn about the science of behavior and the reasons for differences between individuals, across the lifespan. The program also includes the study of organizational behavior, employment relations, and human resources in the global economy.
Psychology
The Psychology component of the program introduces students to the basic principles of learning and the biological bases of behavior, thinking, memory, personality, social influences on behavior, and changes in behavior throughout the lifespan. Students develop a greater understanding of human development and interaction, cognitive processes, individual differences, and biological influences on behavior.

Learning and Teaching
Teaching is over two semesters in blocks of 12 weeks. Classes are taught through lectures, tutorials, and seminars alongside team-based projects, online materials, and interactive sessions using personal response systems.
Assessment
The majority of classes involve a final unseen exam which is normally at the end of the semester. This is typically supplemented by individual and/or group coursework. Students normally have one opportunity to be re-assessed for a failed class.

The standard entry requirements for the program are:
- Highers: AAAA/AAABB (1st sitting), AAAABB (2nd sitting)
- A Levels: ABB-BBB
- International Baccalaureate: 32-30
- HNC/HND: Relevant HNC/HND, A in Graded Units

Fees and Funding
The fees for the program are:
- Scotland: £1,820
- England, Wales & Northern Ireland: £9,535
- Republic of Ireland: If you are an Irish citizen and have been ordinary resident in the Republic of Ireland for the three years prior to the relevant date, and will be coming to Scotland for Educational purposes only, you will meet the criteria of England, Wales & Northern Ireland fee status
- International: £21,550
