Course Content
The course content is structured over four years, with the first year introducing students to a range of business disciplines and the Management Development Programme (MDP). From Year 2, students take modules in their chosen subjects, including Business Analysis & Technology and Mathematics & Statistics.
Business Analysis
- Year 1: Introduction to key managerial and operational issues and techniques, with a focus on modelling techniques and the practical problems and opportunities of technology use in business.
- Years 2 & 3: Application of analytical models and problem-structuring methods in real business contexts, with an emphasis on operations management and information systems.
- Year 4 (Honours): Opportunity to undertake a major project for a client organization, with classes covering subjects such as management science, electronic commerce, and business analytics.
Mathematics & Statistics
- Year 1: Core mathematics classes in calculus, geometry, and probability and statistics.
- Years 2 & 3: Development of mathematical and statistical expertise, with a range of optional classes available.
- Year 4 (Honours): Opportunity to undertake a project in mathematics or statistics, with a range of optional classes available, including topics such as dynamical systems, mathematical biology, and statistical mechanics.
Learning & Teaching
The program uses a range of teaching methods, including lectures, tutorials, seminars, team-based projects, and online materials. External contributors from partnership corporate organizations are involved in teaching and/or assessment of student presentations.
Assessment
Assessment is by both continuous and summative assessment, with knowledge, understanding, and subject-specific skills assessed by coursework, assignment, reports, presentations, and written examinations.
Entry Requirements
- Highers: Standard entry requirements: AAAA/AAABB (1st sitting), AAAABB (2nd sitting). Minimum entry requirements: ABBB (1st sitting), AABBB (2nd sitting).
- A Levels: ABB-BBB (GCSE English Language 6/B or Literature 6/B, or an essay-based A Level B may be considered in lieu of English; GCSE Maths 6/B; A Level Maths A for combinations with Accounting or Maths & Statistics).
- International Baccalaureate: 32-30 (no subject below 5 and including English SL5, Maths/Maths Studies SL5; Maths HL5 for combinations with Accounting or Maths & Statistics).
