Program Overview

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) or iPGCE is a fully online Master’s level teacher professional development programme. This programme is ideal for teachers and teaching assistants currently working in international school settings, aiming to advance their future career prospects and improve the quality of teaching.

The iPGCE is an internationally-recognised Master’s level teacher professional development programme. It is designed for those looking to deepen their understanding of educational issues and apply innovative pedagogical ideas with immediate classroom impact. The programme enables participants to conduct a small-scale action research project that informs their own practice.


Course Content

The programme consists of three Masters-level modules:


  • International Education: Issues, Debates & Challenges
  • Learning, Teaching & Professionalism in International Contexts
  • Practitioner Enquiry for Professional Learning

Learning and Teaching

The programme is presented fully online with ‘live’ interactive lectures designed and delivered by experienced academic staff. Lectures are supplemented by online tutorials and small-group seminars. Participants also receive one-to-one support from tutors and benefit from attending two course support conferences.


Assessment

The programme is assessed by written assignments, presentations, video analysis, practical team and individual projects.


Entry Requirements

  • Academic requirements/experience: Undergraduate degree with at least a 2:1 or degree lower than this with professional experience working in an education-related setting.
  • English language requirements: Please check the English requirements before making an application.

Fees and Funding

  • The fees quoted are per academic year unless stated otherwise.
  • For courses that have a January 2025 start date, 2024/25 academic year fees will apply. For courses that have a September 2025 start date, 2025/26 academic year fees will apply.
  • Fees may be subject to updates to maintain accuracy. Tuition fees will be notified in the offer letter.
  • Annual revision of fees: Students on programmes of study of more than one year should be aware that the majority of fees will increase annually.
