Program Overview
The University of Strathclyde offers a BA Hons Education & Politics and International Relations program. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of education and politics, as well as the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a variety of careers.
Program Structure
The program is a four-year course that allows students to study a range of subjects, including education, politics, and international relations. In the first year, students will study three subjects, including their chosen subject(s). In the second year, students will focus on improving their writing and argumentative skills, and will take classes in research design and methods. In the third year, students will have the opportunity to study abroad or continue their studies in Glasgow. In the fourth year, students will complete an honours dissertation and take a range of optional classes.
Education
The education component of the program will cover a range of topics, including the impact of poverty and social class on children and society, the role of culture and community in education, and the place of policy and politics in education. Students will also undertake a placement with children between the ages of 0 to 14.
Politics & International Relations
The politics and international relations component of the program will cover a range of topics, including the study of politics from a scientific perspective, the role of actors and political institutions in policymaking processes, and the study of international relations and global politics. Students will also take classes in research design and methods, and will have the opportunity to study abroad or continue their studies in Glasgow.
Assessment
The program will be assessed through a range of methods, including exams, essays, and project work. Students will also be required to complete a dissertation in their final year.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the program are:
- Highers: AAAA (first sitting) or AAAAB (second sitting)
- A Levels: ABB-BBB
- International Baccalaureate: 32-30
- Irish Leaving Certificate: Two H2 passes and three H3 passes, including English
- HNC: Year 1 entry: Social Sciences: A in Graded Unit; Maths National 5 B, or equivalent

Fees & Funding
The fees for the program are:
- Scotland: £1,820
- England, Wales & Northern Ireland: £9,535
- Republic of Ireland: If you are an Irish citizen and have been ordinary resident in the Republic of Ireland for the three years prior to the relevant date, and will be coming to Scotland for Educational purposes only, you will meet the criteria of England, Wales & Northern Ireland fee status
- International: £21,550
