The BA Joint Hons Economics, Mathematics & Statistics program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of economics, mathematics, and statistics. The program aims to equip students with the ability to explain complex data in simple terms to different audiences and develop excellent mathematical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.

Why This Course?
Following the recent global economic crisis, economics is more important and relevant than ever. Decisions on money, banking, interest rates, taxation, and government spending affect us all, with global consequences. Economics aims to understand the activities of the different agents in the economy – consumers, producers, and the government – and how they all fit together.
Course Content
The program covers a range of topics, including:
- Introduction to Economics
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- Mathematics and Statistics
- Management Development Programme
Years 1 & 2
Students will study an Introduction to Economics, which covers consumers and industries, markets, market failure, and the role of government, unemployment, and inflation. They will also take core classes in microeconomics and macroeconomics and choose from a number of optional classes.
Years 3 & 4
Students will study a selection of optional classes that complement the classes studied in previous years. They will also undertake a dissertation that requires substantial independent research.

- Republic of Ireland: If you are an Irish citizen and have been ordinary resident in the Republic of Ireland for the three years prior to the relevant date, and will be coming to Scotland for Educational purposes only, you will meet the criteria of England, Wales & Northern Ireland fee status
