Program Overview

The Structured PhD program trains researchers in Science and Engineering through a balance of structured coursework and research. The coursework provides transferable research skills and disciplinary knowledge, while the research element fosters independent research abilities. The program culminates in a research component that accounts for the majority of the credits (240-330).

Program Outline

  • The structured element also provides specialist disciplinary teaching to bring understanding to international research levels.
  • The research element develops skills for graduates to be active and autonomous researchers.

Other:

  • The programme develops advanced research skills for postgraduate research students in Science and Engineering Faculty.
  • The Taught component consists of general transferable research skills (18 credits: 6 modules at 3 credits each), and subject-specific modules (minimum 12 credits).
