Course Overview

Program Structure
The program offers two tracks:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) - 4 years
- Master of Engineering (MEng) - 5 years
Students initially enter the BEng track, with the option to progress into the MEng program following the completion of year four.
Major Options
Students will select from five major options at the end of the second year:
- Computer Engineering
- Focus on software engineering, advanced operating systems, distributed systems, and telecommunications.
- Electronic Engineering
- Emphasizes circuit design, telecommunications, and electrical engineering principles.
- Electrical Energy Engineering

Detailed Study Plan
The coursework structure provides a robust theoretical and practical foundation over the first two years, with core modules including:

Following these foundational years, students will engage in an eight-month Cooperative Education (Co-op) placement, allowing hands-on industrial experience. The final year for BEng candidates culminates in a significant individual project addressing real-world problems.
For MEng candidates, advanced topics such as integrated circuit design, machine learning, and data forensics will be integral to the curriculum.

- Applicants must possess a Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) including a minimum of six subjects, with:
- Two H5 (Higher Level) grades
- Four O6 (Ordinary Level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades
- Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
- Applicants must possess a Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) including a minimum of six subjects, with:
- Subject Requirements: Minimum H4 in Mathematics and O6/H7 in a science subject or computer-related field.
