Brief Description
This program covers core areas such as financial accounting, taxation, auditing, and management accounting, equipping students to contribute confidently to business decision-making and governance, with a strong grounding in ethics and societal impact. Students will benefit from expert teaching, real-world applied learning through optional labs and simulations, and specialized modules in sustainability and data analytics.
Programme Content
The program is delivered over three semesters:
Autumn Semester
- Corporate Sustainability: Introduction to key concepts and tools of corporate sustainability.
- Risk Modelling and Derivative Markets: Qualitative principles and quantitative methodologies for modeling financial risk.
- Advanced Taxation I: Applying advanced aspects of Irish Income Tax, Corporation Tax, and VAT rules.
- Auditing, Assurance and Governance: Understanding the significance of audit evidence, audit procedures, and audit planning.
- Advanced Financial Reporting: Preparing financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant legislation.
Spring Semester
- Strategic Financial Performance and Management Accounting: Management techniques and tools to augment awareness of professional ethical responsibilities.
- Advanced Financial Reporting II: Preparing company accounts at an individual and group level.
- Advanced Taxation II: Addressing advanced technical issues in Irish capital taxes.
- Advanced Auditing and Assurance: In-depth knowledge and appreciation required to arrive at appropriate conclusions on completion of the audit.
- Data Science for Risk Management: Technical skills and theoretical knowledge to develop risk management analytics.
Summer Semester
Option 1:
- Research Methods in Business: Skills and knowledge to complete a post-graduate level research project.
- Research Dissertation in Business: Developing and demonstrating independent research and critical thinking skills.
Option 2:
- Digital Futures Lab: Addressing complex organizational and societal problems through mapping, analysis, and creative thinking.
- Business Analytics Simulation: Interactive, self-directed, experiential learning experience to develop skill sets in strategic decision making.
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honor, grade 2, in a relevant discipline with a significant accounting element.
- Eligibility for exemption from the CA Proficiency 1 (CAP1) examinations of Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
- International students must meet country-specific qualifications and English language competency requirements.
