The program focuses on the development of students' performance skills and knowledge of Irish music, as well as introducing them to other performance practices and scholarly traditions.

Year 1
In the first year, students will focus on developing their performance skills in Irish traditional music, as well as introducing them to music theory and keyboard classes. Students will also engage in ensemble work with in-house and visiting tutors.
Year 2
In the second year, students will deepen their focus on Irish music, undertaking additional specialist modules in Irish music and dance studies and ethnomusicology. Students will also focus on vocational issues in technology, business, and education.
Year 3
In the third year, students will participate in cooperative education, where they will engage in real-world, professional environments. Students will also have the option to study abroad.
Year 4
In the fourth year, students will focus on developing their final performance project, as well as undertaking additional modules in performing arts technology, contextualising and vocational studies, and research skills.
Entry Requirements
- CAO points history: 424 (Audition required)
- Minimum grades: Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include: Two H5 (Higher level) grades and Four O6 (Ordinary level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades. Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
- Audition requirements: Applicants will be asked to prepare three sets of tunes/pieces (at least one set needs to be a set of reels) or, if they are traditional singers, three songs.
