Brief Description
The Professional Diploma in Contemporary Taxation provides students with the knowledge and practical tools to navigate complex tax systems in a rapidly evolving global environment. Students will learn to interpret and apply tax legislation with confidence, develop negotiation skills to resolve disputes, and gain a deep understanding of both domestic and international tax frameworks.
Programme Content
- Complete part-time in one year
- Delivered online with a mix of pre-recorded and live lectures
- Modules taught during autumn, spring, and summer semesters
- Approx. 12 weeks per semester
- Modules with (M) beside them can be taken as independent micro-credential
- Can be used to complete 30 credits towards Master of Professional Practice (MPP) or MSc Engineering Practice
Year 1
Autumn Semester
- Revenue Law and Negotiations (M) (LA6221) provides an understanding of how to interpret tax legislation
- Data Analytics for Tax (TX6051) develops understanding of the importance of data to the modern tax professional
Spring Semester
- Applied International Tax Law (TX6052) outlines the principles underpinning domestic and international tax law and the risks inherent in their application to corporate entities
Summer Semester
- Risk, Ethics, Governance and Artificial Intelligence (IN5103) gain the acumen to make informed decisions concerning the 'risk, ethics and governance' of AI
Entry Requirements
- Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant discipline such as accounting, economics, law, engineering, public administration
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognition of prior learning may be considered in accordance with the university regulations

- Non-EU: €6,790
- Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland. This programme does not qualify for a study visa
