Education - Master of Education
Brief Description
The Masters of Education programme is designed to develop students' professional autonomy as both learners and practitioners with a strong focus on inquiry learning and the integration of theory, practice and research. Please note this programme will NOT qualify you to become a teacher. The programme is aimed at previously qualified teachers and/or individuals with teaching experience.
Overview
The programme introduces students to contemporary issues in education, the postgraduate academic community, and supports students in conducting high-quality, ethical research. All students share four core modules and develop a specialism through a thesis and two associated elective strand modules. An original research thesis must be completed as part of the programme.

Specialist/Elective Modules
Students choose two specialist/elective route modules from the School of Education's four research priority areas:
- Teaching and Teacher Education
- Equality, Inclusion and Wellbeing
- STEM Education
- Educational Leadership and Policy
- 'Open' route = any two elective modules
Entry Requirements
- An appropriate degree or equivalent recognised by the University
- An honours primary bachelor's degree or equivalent (2.1 or 2.2 honours) in a relevant or appropriate subject
- Relevant educational experience in primary, post-primary, adult, further, higher education or other relevant professional educational experiences (minimum = 1 year)
