Law (Law and Society) LLM, PDip
The Law (Law and Society) LLM, PDip program at the University of Kent is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of law and its relationship with society. The program allows students to specialize in one or more areas of law, including human rights law, migration, health law, law and science, law and economy, law and development, and social research methods.

Overview
This pathway is specifically concerned with how law operates in practice. It will provide students with theoretical and interdisciplinary perspectives on law and society and encourage students to question how the law facilitates (or undermines) social justice at the local, national, and international level.
Entry Requirements
- A first-class or upper second-class honors degree in law or a relevant subject
- An equivalent international degree
- Additional qualifications, professional qualifications, and relevant experience may also be taken into account when considering applications
Course Structure
- Postgraduate taught modules are designed to give students advanced study skills, a deeper knowledge of the subject, and the confidence to achieve their ambitions
- Students can tailor their studies to their particular needs and interests to obtain an LLM or Diploma in a single pathway, in two pathways jointly, or by choosing a broad range of modules in different areas of law to obtain a general LLM or Diploma in Law
Modules
- Students who enter the Kent LLM have an open choice of modules from all LLM pathways
- There are modules associated with each LLM Pathway that enable students to specialize in that area of law and to meet the requirements to graduate with an LLM in a specific pathway
How You'll Study
- The postgraduate programs offered within the Law School are usually taught in seminar format
- Students on the Diploma and LLM programs study three modules in each of the autumn and spring terms
- The modules are normally assessed by a 4-5,000-word essay
- Students undertaking an LLM degree must write a dissertation of 15,000 words

- Kent Law School is widely recognized as a world leader in critical and interdisciplinary scholarship, including socio-legal studies, law and humanities, critical legal studies, and feminist theory
- The school places law in its wider social, political, and historical contexts and attends to a wide range of thematic and geographical areas

- The fees for the Canterbury-only delivery of this program are the same as those for the standard LLM program
