Program Overview
Product Design BSc (Hons)
The Product Design BSc (Hons) program at the University of Dundee is designed to teach students how to design new products and experiences in the UK's only UNESCO City of Design. The program is based in the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.
Overview
Product Designers need to be able to research, imagine new ideas, and bring them to life through sketching, prototyping, and visualization. The program covers the whole design process, including research methods, sketching, prototyping, materials, manufacturing, sustainability, 3D modeling, electronics, and programming.

Teaching and Assessment
Students will learn about existing and emerging digital technologies and their role in transforming people's everyday lives. They will gain the skills to produce resolved working prototypes with integrated technology. The program aims to help students develop their own identity as designers, with wide-ranging staff expertise and outstanding facilities.

Student Experience
Students will have the opportunity to work with designers from industry and participate in national competitions. They will also have the chance to take part in study visits and exchanges in their third year, with recent destinations including Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, and Finland.
Final Year Project
In the final year, students will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Degree Show. Previous final year projects can be viewed online as part of the graduate showcase.

- Prototypes from the Level 2 module Technology for Designers
- 3D modeling and rendering from the Level 2 module Form and the Role of the Prototype
- Design communication boards explaining design decisions for various projects
- Working prototypes produced in specialist workshops
- Final year projects, such as Rewire and Bio-Wool, which showcase innovative approaches to product design.
