The English Language Learning programs focus on reading, writing, listening, speaking, and Canadian culture for learners with CLB levels 3-7. Full-time programs include Practical (for learners with 5-11 years of formal education) and Academic (for learners with 12+ years).

Degree Overview:

Our English Language Learning programs focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Learn about Canadian culture and take part in activities that help you live and work in Canada. These programs are for learners who:

  • Are Canadian citizens with Canadian Language Benchmarks CLB 3 to CLB 7, or
  • Are permanent residents or Convention refugees with Canadian Language Benchmarks CLB 3 to CLB 7
  • There are two full-time ELL programs:
  • Full-time ELL (Practical)
  • Learners in this program will begin with a CLB 3, CLB 4 or a CLB 5
  • Learners in this program have between 5 and 11 years of formal education
  • Full-time ELL (Academic)
  • Learners in this program will begin with a CLB 3, CLB 4 or a CLB 5
  • Learners in this program have 12 or more years of education
  • The programs offer:
  • Highly qualified instructors
  • Advisors and counsellors to help learners with academic, career, and life goals
  • A curriculum based on Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs)

Other:

  • Class Schedule: CLB 4-5 Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and CLB 6-8 11:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Government of Alberta Foundational Learning Assistance (formerly "Alberta Works" or "Learner Income Support") is a financial support program managed by the Government of Alberta to support Alberta residents access adult education to help them towards more sustainable employment.
  • Financial support may be available to you.

Entry Requirements:
