Degree Overview:
This program offers a highly flexible structure allowing students to tailor their studies around their interests or pursue a specific career-oriented pathway. Students study Arabic alongside one other language: French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Russian. The final degree title reflects the chosen languages, with an equal division of time dedicated to each.

Year 1:
- Compulsory Modules: 60 credits of compulsory Arabic modules, 30 credits of compulsory Modern Languages modules, and 30 credits of optional Modern Languages modules.
- Modern Languages: Students choose 30 credits of compulsory modules in their chosen language from a list of options including French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.
- Optional Modules: Students select 30 credits of optional modules related to their chosen language. A maximum of 15 credits can be chosen from SML- or HUM-coded modules.

- Compulsory: 120 credit compulsory year abroad Arabic placement.

- Teaching Methods: Written language is taught through weekly classes with teams of tutors, including native speakers. Weekly oral practice sessions are held in small groups with native speakers. Cultural modules involve a combination of lectures, seminars, group work, and web-based learning.

- Student Life: The program encourages students to get involved in activities outside of class, such as language societies, tandem partnerships, liaison work in schools and the community, and the Translation! Festival, the only public festival dedicated to translation in the UK.
- Year Abroad: The Year Abroad is a highlight of the program, providing students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in Arabic society and culture and gain fluency in a spoken dialect of Arabic.

Language Proficiency Requirements:
- International students: Need to show they have the required level of English language to study this course. The required test scores for this course fall under Profile B2.
