Overview

The aim of this independent module is to equip you with cutting-edge insights into the most pressing contemporary issues and debates surrounding infant mental health and wellbeing. The course will delve into various aspects of the field, including theory, research, legislation, policy, and practice, and will offer international comparative perspectives. Entry Requirements

• To study this module, you will need an honours degree, usually at 2:2 or above, from a UK institution or equivalent.
• Applications with no first degree but with relevant professional qualifications will be considered.
• You must be employed in a relevant setting.
• English Language Requirements:
  • Minimum standard – IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in each other band (or equivalent).

Course Content

This module offers a unique opportunity for health, education, and social care practitioners to engage in interdisciplinary learning on infant mental health and wellbeing. The course is designed to provide strong inter-professional, multi-disciplinary, and collaborative learning experiences that align with the interprofessional education (IPE) agenda. It is relevant to practitioners employed in many settings including, but not limited to the new family hubs, mother and baby psychiatric units, and early help centres and it addresses the recent development of the NHS’s Perinatal Mental Health Care Pathways.

The module is presented by a team of expert practitioners and academic staff from various backgrounds, including child development, early years, midwifery, health visiting, attachment, and psychology. By participating in this course, you will have the opportunity to develop key skills, knowledge, and expertise that will enhance the lives and outcomes of infants and their families.

The increasing recognition of the critical role of early childhood on a global scale has led to a growing demand for interdisciplinary courses on infant mental health and wellbeing.
