Program Overview
This short course, not a degree, teaches design principles and software use for effective visual communication in marketing. Taught by an experienced graphic designer, this course is suitable for beginners with limited design software knowledge.
Program Outline
Degree Overview:
You'll work in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop to produce professional-looking presentations across both printed and digital media.
- Structure: The course is delivered over five weeks, with classes held on Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm.

- Individual Modules:
- Practical sessions using the latest desktop publishing software (Adobe Creative Suite): This module will provide hands-on experience with industry-standard design software.
- Theoretical discussions featuring contemporary examples of good design practice: This module will explore design principles and best practices through analysis of real-world examples.
- Learning the technical basics of print-ready artwork: This module will cover the technical aspects of preparing artwork for printing.
- Exploring the layout of stationery, magazines, newsletters, brochures and webpages with a view to producing consistent, coherent and credible communications: This module will focus on applying design principles to create effective and professional-looking communications across various media.
Teaching:
- Teaching Methods: In-person instruction at the Summit Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
- Faculty: Mark Williams, who has a degree in graphic design and 17 years' experience working with and teaching Adobe products. He has developed and delivered training courses to large and small businesses all over the UK.

- Target Audience: This course is aimed at beginners with limited or no knowledge of design software.
