Outline:

Students will be given an overview of the localisation industry with a particular focus on its cultural, linguistic and technical implications. The module will examine the main fields in localisation (websites, videogames, and software) and provide students with hands-on experience of a range of tools and technologies employed to manage, complete and deliver translation and localisation projects.


Assessment:

Total Marks 200:

  • Assignment - Written assignment on a selected topic from the module - 60 marks
  • Case Study - Comparative analysis of 2 localised products/services - 60 marks
  • E-tivities - Introduction to Localisation software - 30 marks
  • Quiz(zes) - Quizzes on topics covered throughout the module - 50 marks
