Course Outline

For the 21st year running, the Department of Classics at UCC offers an intensive 8-week summer school for beginners with parallel courses in Latin and Ancient Greek. The courses are primarily aimed at postgraduate students in diverse disciplines who need to acquire a knowledge of either of the languages for further study and research, and at teachers whose schools would like to reintroduce Latin and Greek into their curriculum. Undergraduate students are more than welcome to apply as well.


Requirements

Non-EU Applicants

  • Non-EU applicants are expected to have educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate.
  • In addition, where such applicants are non-native speakers of the English language they must satisfy the university of their competency in the English language.

Fees and Costs

  • Whether you are an EU or Non-EU student will affect the course fees applicable to you.
  • The State will pay the tuition fees for EU students who are eligible under the Free Fees Scheme.
  • The annual student contribution and capitation fees are payable by the student.
  • The tuition fee (including text books) for the 8-week course is €1900.
