The course equips students with the skills, capabilities, and knowledge to initiate, plan, execute, and monitor projects, achieving objectives within organizational and environmental constraints. This one-year, part-time, hybrid course is unique in the marketplace, delivered in conjunction with industry partner Velopi, and provides an internationally recognized academic qualification from a leading, accredited global academic institution. The course also prepares students for professional accreditation in project management. It is designed for those wishing to formalize their project management qualifications and further develop their project management career. Students are exposed to cutting-edge research, critical thinking, and toolsets. Upon graduation, participants will achieve a highly prestigious sought-after academic qualification plus the knowledge and skills to undertake the project management professional (PMP) exams from the Project Management Institute.


Outline:

The program is structured as a one-year, part-time, hybrid course. Classes are scheduled to run one night per week (online) and for a full day on Friday (in-person), typically once a month from September to May each year (full timetable provided in advance). Online seminars and activities are also utilized.


Modules (30 credits):

  • MG6810 Project Management Principles (10 credits): This module covers the fundamental principles of project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality control.
  • MG6815 Management and Organisation (5 credits): This module explores the organizational context of project management, including leadership, team dynamics, and organizational structures.
  • MG6817 Project Management Professional (PMP Certificate) Boot Camp (5 credits): This module provides intensive training and preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam.
  • MG6831 Developments in Project Management (5 credits): This module examines emerging trends and best practices in project management, including agile methodologies, digital transformation, and sustainability.
  • MG6832 The Effective Project Manager (5 credits): This module focuses on the skills and competencies required for effective project management, including communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

Assessment:

Assessment is through a variety of continuous assessment methods including individual and group projects, presentations, etc.


Teaching:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
